BJÖRK’S BLACK LAKE

BJÖRK’S BLACK LAKE

With the much anticipated retrospective of Iceland’s queen songstress and conceptual artist, Björk approaching at MoMA, a trailer for the commissioned immersive sound and video installation Black Lake has been released.

Fading in from black, Björk’s seen center screen laying in a grave-like dent in the ground. Skimpily clad in ferns, the slow zoom reveals a crack of blue liquid running through her body all the way down to her unmentionables where it leaks out on to the ground. Directed by Thomas Andrew Huang, the video portrays the “pain, perishing, and rebirth” that are said to be the themes of the installation.

Björk opens at MoMA March 8, 2015.
