GABRIELE COLANGELO AW14-15

GABRIELE COLANGELO AW14-15

Having made it his trademark, Gabriele Colangelo interprets a different artist each season: past collections have been based on the likes of Gerhard Richter, Laurent Segretier and Kazimir Malevich. This season, German artist Joachim Bandau was referenced throughout the AW14-15 collection. The layering effects of the artist’s watercolor pieces were transformed directly into prints and his sculptures into different textures.
Born in 1936, Bandau is known for his minimal sculptures and paintings. His “Black Watercolours” series (1983-) consists of watercolors of transparent and overlapping gray rectangles that appear almost to move and tremble, suggesting photographic film, fabric, shadows, and even the passage of time.
