Who says print is dead? Certainly not Jack Pierson. The artist is set to release the third installation of his project Tomorrow’s Man, a book Pierson oversees and collaborates on with several other artists.
For his third volume, Pierson is working with three other artists. Richard Tinkler, Peter Fend, and Veralyn Behenna have all contributed work to be featured in the issue. Richard Tinkler’s beautiful, kaleidoscopic worlds are highlighted, a maze of colors and geometry that is easy to get lost in. Peter Fend, surreptitious artist-slash-activist, demands a change in the treatment of the environment in a captivating text. Veralyn Behenna provides a short story bearing the enthralling title “The Flavor of Your Wish” for the volume. And last but not least, Pierson himself is contributing previously unpublished works, a treat for devoted fans of the artist.
Tomorrow’s Man takes its name from a vintage bodybuilding magazine. With this inspiration in hand, Pierson developed his version of Tomorrow’s Man, creating an artist collaborative publication that still hearkens back to the original magazine’s buff body features. The book is a visual feast of artwork, from photography to drawings and even modern pop culture references, all entwined together to create an explosive amalgamation of interest.
The third installation of Tomorrow’s Man features four different covers. It’s set to have its debut at Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair at the MoMA PS1, which runs from September 18-20.
