Spanish born Paco Rabanne started his career in fashion by designing jewelry for houses like Givenchy, Dior and Balenciaga. He became famous for the use of use of outrageous materials like metal, paper, plastic after starting his own brand in 1966. But also the outlandish and flamboyant designs landed his name within the top ten of Paris designers in the 1960s and 70s: two of the house’s signatures is the use of chainmail and his long tile gowns.
Paco Rabanne’s new designer, 30-year-old French designer Julien Dossena decided to reimagine the house’s signature pieces: chainmail was turned into a net of safety pins worn on top of silk slips and laser-cut leather harnesses over blue shirts took the place of tile dresses.
