If you don’t know the name Pat McGrath, you don’t know makeup. McGrath is a revered name in the fashion and makeup industry, with her skill taking her from backstage at Givenchy and Louis Vuitton to creating makeup looks for films like The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. She has finally launched what every die-hard makeup artist and fan has been waiting for – her very own makeup collection. Though full details haven’t been revealed yet, one product, known around the web as “Pat’s gold” or “gold dust”, will be launching on McGrath’s website come noon on October 29th.
The first product of her new line, formally titled “Gold 001” is a fine gold dusting powder that caused a frenzy when it debuted on the lips of models in the Prada Spring 2016 show. This debut was followed by an absolute takeover by McGrath’s famous model friends (think Lily Donaldson and Iman Hammam) wearing the product during Paris Fashion week, with images shot by Patrick Demarchelier clogging the feeds of everyone’s Instagram and Twitter, and thus elevating the creation to a grail item. Now the product is finally here, but there’s a catch – only 1,000 of the pieces will be for sale, and available only on McGrath’s website. Why such a limited amount? The makeup goddess says it’s the only amount the lab could turn over in such a short amount of time, and she wanted something to give out to her loyal devotees and makeup artists alike immediately.
McGrath’s full makeup line is set to be released sometime in late 2016. Until then, you can hold yourself over by playing with gold – if you’re lucky enough to be one of the coveted few to get your hands on it. “Gold 001” will be live for purchase at 12 pm on October 29th on McGrath’s website, PatMcGrath.com.
