PROENZA SCHOULER AW14-15

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler upped the energy with their AW14-15 collection. Their trippy oversized mélange like prints bore witness of their inspiration from the American ceramist Ron Nagel. Likewise did their organic shaped garments, which, made in spongy jacquards, had a sculptural feel to them. The rounded shoulders were one of the most noticeable silhouette characteristics this season, but also cinched waists, flaring hips and full sleeves dominated on the runway.

Born in 1939, San Francisco-based Ron Nagel is known for his small disquieting sculptures in clay and is considered part of the Abstract Expressionist Ceramics group that developed around Peter Voulkos. In 2011 he became part of American Academy of Arts and Letters alongside the likes of James Turrell and Cy Twombly.
