It’s not the first time that Raf Simons and Sterling Ruby work together – Ruby created a capsule collection of bleached denim for Simons’s eponymous line back in 2009 – so it came as no surprise when art-lover Simons invited the LA-based artist to collaborate on a complete collection with him. The two first met through a gallerist when Simons purchased a piece of Ruby’s art nine years ago and have since remained close friends.
When the duo presented the collection during Paris Mens Week, the Place De Vendome venue was decked out in Ruby’s large-scale sculptures similar to his Soft Work exhibition, which also inspired the cartoon looking boots featured on all the models. They came in white, black, orange, blue and purple – colors that went though the entire collection, which most of all looked like one of Ruby’s collages from the early 2010s.
