TSE AW14-15

When Tina Lutz presented her TSE-woman for fall/winter 2014-15, her inspiration wasn’t clear at first glance. But as soon as she mentioned German artist Edgar Leciejewski’s Himmel Ohne Wolken (Sky Without Clouds directly translated) the collection resonated a little more.

In his 2011 book, Leciejewski had taken photos of birds that’d died by flying into windows. But rather than merely documenting what he’d experienced, the Leipzig-based artist interpreted his objects, emphasizing, correcting, and idealizing features he believed were important.

The photos have an unreal amount a detail in them, which Lutz lightly interpreted into her collection. She transformed fringe tassels into feather-like decorations featured both on top and bottom of fitted sweaters. But also printed silk was made too look like wing feathers directly inspired by some of the pictures in Leciejewski’s book.
