11 WHITE addresses an elegant challenge: how do we print a publication using little-to-no ink? The solution: artwork is either embossed, printed with varnish (our interpretation of “invisible" ink), or, as in the case of Ruben Toledo’s illustrations, hand cut from tissue paper in a small village in China. We used braille on the cover and on many of the inside pages, leading The New York Times to call WHITE “the magazine for touching." True to the all-white theme, Greg Foley’s feather design for the cover is embossed rather than printed.
